Algemene Uitleg Leerdoel:

By going through a design process you are able to design, communicate and validate game systems for both functional/technical and aesthetic requirements using industry standard methods and deliverables.

Explanation:

With Design process we mean that you can use a structured and methodical approach in your design. You use a set of concept development methods such as diverging/converging, brainstorms and existing theories as well as structured technical design methods such as UML and RUP.

The Design covers both the functional/technical and aesthetic design of your products. You communicate your design in a well presented and structured way, such as client pitches and a Game Design Document (GDD) to relevant stakeholders.

You Validate your designed Game Systems in an early stage using efficient and quick prototyping methods such as paper prototyping, roleplaying and wizard of Oz and use the results to refine your design.

Common deliverables are: Game Design document, Tech design document consisting of elements such as UML diagrams and software architecture diagram and prototypes such as paper prototypes, mock ups and user tests.
